Objective: to get to know each other based on shared characteristics
Summary: exchange of personal information
Duration: 15–20 minutes
Number of participants: unlimited (the exercise is done in small groups)
Description of the activity:
Divide the participants into small groups of three to four people. People within each small group have to exchange personal information with each other (where they live, number of children, hobbies, whatever.) The aim is to find a minimum of two characteristics which apply to every member in their group, preferably as concrete as possible (everyone plays badminton is more concrete than everyone plays a sport).
Tips & directions:
Start off with a small group of three and then suddenly add a fourth person so that they have to start the exercise again. After a short while, divide people into new groups.
- Turn it into a competitive game, try to find as many similarities per small group as possible.
- Set themes around which groups can be formed. For instance: everyone who loves sports, move to the left, and everyone who hates sports, move to the right.
